LĀDE - LIMBAŽI - RŪJIENA 95 km
You can start the trip at Skulte railway station,
which is connected with regular passenger train traffic to Riga
The first kilometers of the former railway are not passable, and will be used to construct RailBaltica high speed train. However, using the route 109 (connecting Saulkrasti with Limbazi) from Lade village (take signposted route 111) the route is entirely passable until Mazsalaca, and about half of it is entirely restricted for motorized traffic. The route has mostly gravel and grass surface, in Puikule it is possible to use a junction with Valmiera-Ainazi greenway. The route is connected with Rujiena by signposted cycling route 148 - in the future the former railway connecting Mazsalaca and Rujiena could also be turned into greenway.
•The route and route connections are signposted with km signs and directional signs on old railway sleepers placed on major crossroads.
Info stands about the trail and its surroundings are placed at both ends of the Greenway, as well as at several locations on the trail.
The Greenway is closed for motorised traffic between Limbazi and Puikule.
Between Puikule - Aloja and Lade - Limbazi it is forbidden for motorized traffic to use the Greenway. Between Aloja and Mazsalaca some motorized transportation might appear from the local houses and farms.
There is a plan to gradually extend the line from Mazsalaca to Rūjiena (2020), therefore the line is named Lāde-Rūjiena, but currently one has to use by-pass from Mazsalaca to Rūjiena on an asphalted road
